Heaven in a better way Cheesecake + Nutella!

Nutella Cheesecake
How can you resist Nutella!

If I am in an extremely feel like cooking mood, I'll be baking this tonight! Here's the recipe!

Serves 12-14

Ingredients

  • 250g digestives
  • 75g soft unsalted butter
  • 400g jar Nutella, at room temp
  • 100g chopped toasted hazelnuts
  • 500g cream cheese, at room temp
  • 60g icing sugar

Method

Step 1: Break the digestives into the bowl of a processor, add the butter and a 15ml tablespoon of Nutella, and blitz until it starts to clump. Add 25g of the hazelnuts and continue to pulse until you have a damp, sandy mixture.

Step 2: Tip into a 23cm round springform and press into the base either using your hands or the back of a spoon. Place in the fridge to chill.

Step 3: Beat the cream cheese and icing sugar until smooth and then add the remaining Nutella to the cream cheese mixture, and continue beating until combined.

Step 4: Take the springform out of the fridge and carefully smooth the Nutella mixture over the base. Scatter the remaining 75g of chopped hazelnuts on top to cover and place tin in fridge for at least four hours or overnight. Serve straight from the fridge for best results.

I'm Racist and I admit it

I was just reading an article on Yahoo! news about how the streets are more empty during the Chinese New Year Period.

There was this sentence that spoke right to my mind
"If we import too many low-skilled foreigners, we would also import their problems"
Honestly, I really think this is an issue. I have no qualms about those who are successful or those who are here for an investment in our country, boosting our economy in return. But my dear politcal members and voters, I hope we all see this picture sooner, before we regret.

With all the negative news report about China, the ignorance of the people who watched the baby get runned over, contaminated milk powder, wrong formulas and etc etc. WHAT IF SINGAPOREANS TURN LIKE THAT? AVA shut down meh? Can't be what!

Just look at our education systems and schools. They are gradually flooding our pathways to success. No room for the locals to grow. Can't you see the trend that more people are opting for a diploma instead of A'levels?

时代不同了!!

Yes, the foreign talents set a competitive edge, to our local students. But is direct competition from these foreign talents necessary in our education systems?

Sometimes, it isn't because we do not make the effort to study, in fact, as a "I-dont-like-engineering-course" person myself, I told myself to strived harder so I won't end up in a class where 3/4 of the students are China. Just like when I signed up for my degree, I questioned my consultant whether there would be a lot of nationalities in my class. Thankfully, so far - NONE. All Singaporeans. God Bless Me! (: (:

No doubt, we should have close political ties with China as their economy rules the world. But can't we implement other ways to do so? We can have more foreign direct investment, or franchise of certain stores at their countries, vice versa. International business. Not globalisation!

We, Singaporeans, can strive like how we did before. Inculcate good habits like clearing your own tray after you've eaten. NOT peeing around the toilet bowl when you use it - AIM PROPERLY BITCHES (you don't have a freaking dick please). Throw our rubbishes into the Mr Froggy Green.

Increase the low-wage pay to a considerable amount, maybe 1.2k for a full time cleaner at a food court - 8 hours, 6 days week. Hire Singaporeans! We can do the job too.

Heed my advice - The people need to stay in their own country and make their lives better.

This is where we can all start to Hao Lian (show off) that WE DID IT WITH OUR OWN PEOPLE. not.. some other abc!

Extra Bonus!

祝大家

新年快乐,恭喜发财,身体健康, 财源光景, 龙马精神!

Just like everyone else on the blogosphere, I'm here to wish everyone a great Lunar New Year. I know I know. Today's already 初三 but pardon me ok! Been busy playing mahjong, blackjack and big2!

Lucky Lucky me, was the banker for blackjack for the last 3 rounds and I won a whopping amount of $50++. Its like extra bonus! Super shiok!

And if you were thinking, why I only wished the above 5, its not because I do not know of other chinese new year wishing but each of them carries a meaning.

Ok, let me explain a little...

新年快乐
In this new year, I wish everyone to be HAPPY. Lead a happier life than before. Don't keep fretting about the things undone. DO IT NOW, so you won't regret or look back thinking "damn i should have done that!" don't be...

恭喜发财
Also, I hope the people around us would win fortunes. Not that I'm advising them to gamble or what, but, JUST WIN. Even if its just lucky draws or 4D, TOTOs JUST WIN ONLY. Whack ahhh!!  Imagine you're so rich that you can do this.

song bo!

身体健康
Of course in order to enjoy all the good fortunes and new looks in life, you need to have better health. So go on make appointments for your yearly check-ups today. Go claim your medical leaves and take all the proper tests. If you're sexually active, go get HIV tested! Whatever it is, take good care of your health! Don't worry, once you're cleared, you won't end up like this...

财源光景
Additional to the above, if your fortune sucks for the year. I hope that the future would be a gazillion better! (:  [Honestly, no clue whats that about but WHATEVER - so no meme!]

龙马精神
I wish that everyone will have sufficient energy for work/school and NOT FALL ASLEEP, or feel sleepy. Its like you have to have the DRAGON'S activeness and HORSE'S Power. But I honestly tell you, this never works. So..In reality, I think its better to wish all of you this!

Hope they meant something to you!

I will try to do a travelogue on my KL TRIP this friday. CAN'T WAIT (EXCLAMATION MARK

Uncle Leong's Seafood!

Good Morning Everyone!

Yes! The long awaited Lunar New Year is finally coming soon! But... maybe its a little toooooo soon. Anyways, today, I'm going to introduce you to a place where you can find delicious crab! And trust me, you'll not regret it.

You're right! As the title of this blog post - UNCLE LEONG'S SEAFOOD!

Alright, so I went on two separate occasion.

XO Spare Ribs - $15
The XO Spare Ribs are a must try. I remember reading a review somewhere that said that it was damn good. And I must agree with it! The sticky texture coating the spare ribs was sweet yet a little bitter (probably came from the XO). But afraid not, kids can enjoy this delicious meal as when alcohol is being heated to a certain period, the thing that makes us drunk goes together with the hot air. (:

I rate it a 4.5/5!
Chilli Crab - $36
If you like sambal kangkong, you'll love this Chilli Crab. Unlike the Chilli crab at House of Seafood, this is a lot more different. I mean, you can't escape from the succulent favour from the crab. But the sauce, somehow rather tasted like sambal kangkong's in gravy style. So.. its your take. To me, I was ok with it, because the crab meat complimented the entire dish.

I rate this a 3.5/5

Fried Tofu - $8/10

Like every other acclaimed homemade fried tofu, they all taste the same to me. I think its the sauce that's oustanding and what sets the other restaurants different. It had a little tangy, yet sweet taste to it. Making you forget about the fact that it was deep fried. Taking away the oiliness.

I rate this a 3/5

3 egg Spinach. (Salted, Normal Egg, Century Egg) - $10/12
I love vegetables if you were to ask me. It is as if its mandatory to have vegetable in every dish of mine.  This is a classic 三蛋菜汤 that can be easily found in many tze char store. It came across as a little to starchy. But other than that, the rest of the meal was just pleasantly delicious. (:

I rate it a 3/5

This was on another impromptu session that my bf and I went to.

While waiting for our food to arrive

Hungry Hungry!

Crab Beehoon - $46
The Crab Beehoon is one of the signature dish of Uncle's Leong. We decided to give it a try. It being our first time eating Crab Beehoon, I was kinda taken aback by the taste of it. If you were to ask me if I'll order it again, I'll say no! I prefer the traditional way of eating with Chilli/Black Pepper or just steamed.

Anyways, the soup came across as tooooooooo milky for me, the beehoon was nice and the soup was infused with the sweetness of the crab meat. So with every spoonful, you can taste the sweetness (and milkiness). The crab meat, as usual never disappoint me! Absolutely succulent and tasty.

I rate it a 3.5/5
Abalone Mushroom with Bo Chai - $12
We decided to try the Abalone Mushroom with Spinach? It was a little salty for me. And if you look closely, you can see how STARCHY this whole dish is. No doubt the mushroom texture was smooth and easy to chew on. But the Starch and Salt (Double S) is just a little too disappointing.

I rate this a 3/5
Gold Coast Prawn - $20
Lastly, we decided to add another dish to our dinner. We had the Gold Coast Prawn. THIS, is a must try. The texture of the prawn is crispy on the outside, and soft in the insides. Its coated with this milky-curry-leaves-sweetness taste and melts in your mouth!

A little disappointment though, despite the prawns being HUGE, the shells were so hard! Maybe its me. I think that they should have used smaller prawns with thinner shell so that customers can  enjoy the meal even with the shell on. Its like those prawn that you go prawning and fish kind! So I had quite a lot of "wait, need to take shell out from mouth" ugly moments.

I rate it a 3.5/5

So that sums it all up! My day at Uncle Leong Seafood.

Check out their Website for more of their CNY Festive Menu! (:

Alright, Just let me side track abit

Cancer & Taurus Romantic Compatibility

When Taurus and Cancer come together in a love affair, it's usually a very good combination. They are two positions apart within the Zodiac, and such Signs tend to share karmic ties and a deep mutual understanding. These particular two Signs have much in common: Both prize security in a love relationship above almost all else; both tend to be nurturers (Cancer is emotionally nurturing while Taurus loves to spoil their lover with sensual delights, gifts and good, rich meals). They're both quite domestic and love a quiet night spent at home with their sweetie.

The Taurus-Cancer partnership tends to be a happy one due to this mutual enjoyment of the security and comfort of home. They love a solid home base, a strong relationship, nice possessions, good food: all the comforts of domestic life. Theirs is often the ideal family that people of other Signs strive for, with strong ties between them and a relationship that is family-oriented rather than toward the outside world. Their only major problems arise when Taurus insists on having its own way and Cancer responds by sulking. Taurus must understand Cancer's emotional sensitivity, and Cancer needs rely on open, honest communication than on emotional blackmail.

Taurus is ruled by Venus (Love) and Cancer is ruled by the Moon (Emotions). Both of these celestial bodies vibrate with feminine energy. Cancer often keeps emotions bottled up and simmering inside, which can lead to occasional boil-overs. Thus, Cancer is attracted to Taurus's open, honest, unafraid nature. As the Moon controls the tides of the Earth, quietly affecting all life, so does Cancer, manipulating behind the scenes. Cancer tends to be sentimental, and both partners prefer to enjoy each other rather than socializing with large groups.

Taurus is an Earth Sign and Cancer is a Water Sign. Water and Earth are compatible as tangible, physical entities. As a Water Sign, Cancer is born to nurture an Earth Sign like Taurus the way rain nurtures Earth and helps crops grow. In turn, Taurus tends to have a more stable view of life than does Cancer and is less prone to emotional turmoil; therefore, Taurus can help Cancer stabilize their tumultuous feelings. Both Signs must be careful in this relationship, however: Taurus may tire of Cancer's mood swings, and Cancer may in turn feel that Taurus is insensitive to their needs.

Taurus is a Fixed Sign and Cancer is a Cardinal Sign. Taurus has Fixed habits; they won't change an opinion once it's formed. This can provide Cancer with an emotional rock, as Taurus is entirely dedicated to the relationship. In turn, Cancer can bring new inspiration to the relationship and start new projects that Taurus will enjoy taking over later.
What's the best aspect of the Taurus-Cancer relationships? The steady, reliable team they make. Both Signs are dependable and nurturing, strongly oriented toward domestic life together. A mutual love of home and security makes theirs an ideal long-term, family relationship.

All you need is 10 minutes!

That's right! All you need is 10 minutes!

Origins - Out of Trouble 10 Minutes Mask
This mask was introduced by one of my cousin - Valerie. Since my other cousin was returning from States, I thought, why not try it. Since its slightly cheaper to purchase from the States.

Very often, I get the feeling where those blemishes start to gather their forces and form really huge zits on my face. With Origins Out of Trouble 10 Minutes Mask, there no need to fuss about "what if my date keep staring at my red bump on my nose!" any more!

"The formula includes super-absorbent Zinc Oxide and Sulfur, calming Camphor plus skin-sloughing Salicylic Acid, rapidly respond to problem skin’s plight with a three-part plan - sop up oily-shine, slough off sticky, dead cells, and sweep away irksome debris. (Unlike your generic masks that smells like perfume, this mask has a very herbal smell) Together they steer skin clear of slippery situations, refine rough texture and pull the plug on troublemakers to oust potential outbursts. Suitable for all skin type"

How I use it: I take the mask splatter thing and squeeze out about 1 - 2cm worth of mask, spread it at each side of my cheek and add on more if needed for the rest of my face. I usually put a very thin layer unless I have like a super big pimple on my face, then I will put more on that area (i dont know if the theory works like that, but just whack lah ah?). Then I leave it for 10 minutes, sometimes longer, but you will know when to wash it off, cause it would feel tighter. And tadahhh refreshed skin!

Reviews: So far I have only used the mask for about 4-5 times and I'M SOLD. Although it does not smell as good as the perfumed smelling masks, but the herbal smell kinda reassures me that the mask is organic in a way, that is not just made of pure chemicals! Every time after use, my skin feels light and refreshed. (I was actually doing the mask just now, 30minutes gone by) My skin still feels supple I dont even feel a tad bit of stickiness on my face like I usally do after wash! Its like it all suddenly disappeared when I washed it away with the mask. It is mild to my skin, doesn't make my skin all flaky and stuff after long usage. So I think this is a mask that all readers should try!

IT REALLY REDUCES REDNESS!

Star Factor: Ok, as a first timer, i didn't really like how cooling and slightly biting the mask was. I was told it is the normal feeling that you will get for the first try. But right after I removed the mask. It was damnnnnn shiok! Cause I could feel the menthol-ly feeling on my face even after 5 minutes of washing it off. It is definitely a relaxing feeling!

Price: My cousin bought it from the states from me cause its a lot cheaper. So, I think it is definitely worth the moolahs! (:

Get it today before CNY, so all your woes can be solved!

What's my daily skincare facial wash?

Yes yes. Finally I'm posting a review post.

Being someone new, let me start of with something muchhhh simpler.

Just like xx% of the "suey" people in Singapore, I suffer from your normal T-Zone, Combination skin problem. I've used products from Elizabeth Arden, Clarins, Ettusais etc etc, visited countless time of facial and experience TERRIBLE outbreaks on my very rudolph nose and now, my skin has finally found its rescue! (: (L

My skin had a very very bad outbreak when I came back from Thailand last june, i had baby acnes on my cheeks that shocked the hell out of me. Must be the countless amount of tom yum soup I had every single day I was there! But you know, its just too shiok to resist!

Early in the morning, I wash my face with Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash.

Although the instructions were to use 1 full pump each time, I just find it toooo much! So, I only use half or 1/3 of the pump (you can gauge it yourself!)

I duper duper love the convenience of using the pump! Don't even need to lather and I already have a foamy texture that can penetrate deep into my pores and remove all impurities and dirt gently with Collagen-enriched formula! The downside is, sometimes I do find a bit of dryness when I leave it to dry and do not put on any moisturiser.

Girls, don't tell me you're too young for Collagen, and your skin is super supple now, cause 2 years or 5 years down the road, more exposure to sun, you're gonna look like this!

............
...........
..........
........
......
.....
...
.

So anyways, I think it is really duper crucial to find the RIGHT skincare facial wash for your own delicate skin. Don't go for brands, sometimes, even a daiso item can solve your daily skincare routines! Its more about the contents that are inside the product than the amount. At least when its cheaper, it is friendlier to our pockets, right?

Animal Abuse. Go fuck the spider.

I know this isn't the best news to share, but.. we should raise awareness

"Some kids placed strong firecracker in the mouth of this animal and made sure he could not open it. The world is like this. To these kids it must have been a macabre fun for a few minutes and then they continued with their life like nothing happened. To this animal, his life ended during those minutes, with a pain so deep that is better to forget. If you are against the mistreatment of animals, share this so that more people see what we are capable to do and how inhumane we could be."

they are not our soft toys that we can easily win on those claw crane machine at arcades. they have a life, they breathe, they eat, they sleep, they poop, just like humans. how would you feel, if i were to put firecrackers in your mouth and made sure you couldn't open your mouth? What's worse is that these people who carry out such acts, often do not have access to things like FACEBOOK. So, whichever government board is reading this should open their eyes and start spreading Ads on MORALITY. Morality people. Morality. What this world is becoming shocking.

Often, I really hate seeing these abusive images of canines or any animals. Humans are animals too. We belong to the mammal category, if you failed your science in primary school, here's the refreshment course!

As much as I am against such act, I feel that people who do carry out these acts, often do not live in areas where they have access to internet as we have on our mobile phones. But it is to my surprise that I read this over at STOMP today.

Previously, I was working at an Animal Clinic, and I witnessed several abusive actions by Singaporeans which I found appalling. What happened was, there was this dog, who had rubberband around his neck that was eating into his skin.

It was SO painful to watch as the doctor carefully removed each of the rubberband stuck on his skin. Remember how when we were young and we used rubberbands to make skipping ropes?

Yup! thats the one that was COILED around his neck. Sick or what! Thankfully, the lady who brought it in was so nice and kind. I mean, she always have been. An animal Samaritan. Any ways, if you're keen to know, the dog has recovered from the crazy rubberband incident and is happily enjoying its life with others now (:. So that's the only great news to that.

here's wishing everyone a
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012
