(MOVIE) HUGO by BASH

HUGO by BASH (Blackberry & Starhub) & 8DAYS
VivoCity GoldClass 28th February 2012 7.30pm

I need to blog about this, because I'm afraid one day I'll forget about the things that happened in the movie. I mean, by far, the only flicks which I can remember, or recall vividly are The Notebook, Message in a Bottle, Moulin Rouge, Spice World (i think i watched this more than 10 times, from the old BIG records.. those before VCD were invented). The rest, are just flicks.

I went to the event with my boyfriend, whom you by now should know who exactly. We were there, all prep, with our hotdog bun, drinks and the chicken chop which I illegally "tao pao-ed". We assumed that the show was at 7.30pm, so we went in, sat at the concierge and waited for the movie. It was only awhile that we found out that they had an ongoing event.

Ok.. actually, when I walked in, I saw Kronenbourg. Immediately, MY HEART FLEW HIGH UP. I cannot exclaimed how much I love BLANC. (This is not an Advertorial) But I really do LOVE Kro. Super nice to drink and easy on the throat. I mean, most girls concern is about the burp, but.. with Kro you don't need to worry! (:

I will elabourate on the event once BASH uploads the pictures taken yesterday. Smart me, forgotten to bring my camera along. So that sucked. If only I knew there was an event! ):

its quite an arty farty show,
Hugo was already shown in the States in 2011, being nominated for over 17 awards, and winning OSCAR Best Cinematography! (Wah I can spell!). So I had high expectation on the graphic of HUGO. No doubt the movie didn't disappoint me. If you're having any doubts about watching it, WIPE THEM OFF. It is a movie worth every 1cent coins you keep!.

Set in 1931, Paris, the movie was on Brian Selznick's Novel - The Invention of Hugo Cabret, who lives alone in a railway station. The story unfolds about how Hugo observed the life of many others, how routine one life can get, and how in the past, people relied on clocks to tell them the time. (watches were pretty hefty then). He was just a 12-year-old boy who had lost his relatives, but was determined to fix automaton.

On and off the show, he stole to survive but was caught by a toy store owner named Georges Méliès (Papa George). When Papa George asked Hugo to empty his pocket, Hugo revealed a notebook that showed the methods to repair the automaton. After several "stalking adventure", Hugo was asked to learn magic tricks, how to fix things from Papa George.

Hugo was looking for the last piece to make the automaton work, which was a heart-shaped key.

After realising the heart-shaped key was with Papa George god daughter - Isabelle, they use the key to activate the automaton, it produces a drawing of a film scene. Hugo then remembered it is the first film he ever saw (Voyage to the Moon).

They discovered that the drawing made by the automaton is signed with the name of Isabelle's godfather and took it to her home for an explanation.

The story later revealed why George decided to give up on his once glorious career and leave everything behind. It was like his youth was gone, and his dreams vanished with the war. They spoke about how they had to colour each of the film single handedly to make it appear with colours. Of course, the climax of the show was after this revelation. But.. if you want to know, Go catch it yourself!

this part gave me the bumps. Seriously!
Hugo is on theatres since 23 February 2012. So better be sure you lock in those seats this weekend! (:

Honestly, throughout the movie, I was thinking, THIS BOY WONT COLD ONE HOR? WINTER LEH. Wear so little. My office's aircon less than 21.5 Degree I already wrapped myself like a Ba zhang (rice dumpling)!

Remember ah. WATCH THIS #likeaboss, with Golden Village GoldClass.

(Visit Trip) Changi City Point

(ok, firstly Remember to like VLV on facebook!)

Changi City Point
I think it was months ago, that I read on the one of the StraitsTime Article on their Life section promoting how eco-friendly this certain mall was. A bit hesistant, cause..
  1. Its so bloody far from Serangoon
  2. Nothing much there (from the listing of shops online) that attracts me
  3. Working at a mall, doesn't really motivate me to visit another mall you know? Its like I rather laze at home
Ok, so the decision was made, and we went down to visit Changi City Point

I think this concept depicts embracing nature within the mall.
Ironically, there were NO fishes. Sigh.
Poor boy waiting while I was snapping photos. haha!

hh
the place where you can study for free.

which have already been occupied.
I took quite a few shots of a bee that was collecting honey I assume. You can check out the rest of the pictures on facebook!

A shower area for the kids to clean themselves before they use the facilities.

Well, they had outlets stores like..
  • Esprit
  • Timberland
  • Adidas
  • Nike
You can go on to their website to look out for more stores?

What do VLV think about the mall?
Well, its a place whereby church goers from the Expo can easily assess to, instead of training down to tampines or Changi Airport, now they have an option of visiting Changi City Point. It is quite a condusive place for one to mug their exams for as well, they have huge seats  even in their food courts. Open space for those who like the... greenery efforts that they put on.

Also, they offer quite a variety of food. they have like banquet at Basement 2 I think, that serves Halal food, which I tried the Ayam Penyat (THE CHILLI DAMN SHIOK), for a good $5. So... if you're thinking of budget day, like us, you can head on down to try the super shiok Ayam Penyat. Its more of a family mall than a mall whereby you can shop like crazy. I suppose one thing good about staying at the East side of Singapore is that, they have such huge land space that they can build things extra big, like IKEA, COURTS and GIANT, now we have Changi City Point.

So, if you're going down to NATAS travel fair 2012, this week, simply cross over to the other side of the road and drop by to have a better judgement for yourself. (:

Blackberry Bold 9790 Photo Contest

From my Tweets and Facebook, it is rather apparent that I have made a decision to join the Blackberry Bold 9790 Photo Contest.

the question was simple, in at least 50 words, describe your first love.

I was having quite a few thoughts, I could stick to my I LOVE BLACKBERRY 9780 or how I love my boyfriend. But I decided to do this post for the one love in my life, who has never, NEVER turned his back away from me when I needed him the most.

Here's what I wrote. (a total of 450 words)

my little warrior

My first (dog) love. "I can never have imagined what life would have been without you. The day you walked through my doors, I knew my life would be changed instantly. I missed you my love." For my beloved dog - Gogo
I can always recall the day you came; I was only 10 then, trying to figure out what life had planned for me. It was never easy being young, being bullied and being named at school but I know, everything would be different when I reach home. You were always there, at home waiting for me. I always hear you bark, as I reach upon the door front, greeting me with your soft paws and doing the “gong xi gong xi” action that our family loved so much.
You’ve been through so much with me, through my awful days at school, relationship breakups and family disputes. Talking and complaining to you about how I felt about life. From your eyes, I knew you understood; its like you always knew. No one could take away that from me. But god did.
I always wished that you would have lived just a little longer, so that you could accompany me through my life, but I knew I was selfish - asking too much. When I found out that you were diagnosed with terminal Cancer, it was like a part of me was gone. Do you remember the day that we were together at the consult room, hearing those results? My heart tore. It was a good 15years my boy.

As days past, your body grew weaker as the drugs grew stronger. You fought well; you were so courageous battling with the demons. A year later, it was time. It felt different that day when I left the house, and it was like I knew you were going to be gone soon. No doubt, my instincts were right, You left, without me around,

1.5 years gone and I still can’t figure out, why you left without my presence. They say that dogs usually move on alone, in a corner, because they don’t want their owners to worry or feel sad upon their departure. And I guess, you did the same as well.

But my dear boy, did you know that on some days, I had deliberately made my footsteps sounded louder so that I could hear you bark for one last time? You are more than a memory my dear. You have been a part of our family, something that wouldn’t be easily forgotten.

I have so much to say to you. I'm sorry my love. But I've missed you and you’re my greatest love of all. I’ll never forget you. My first and only truest love. Rest In Peace.

Gogo. Age 15, In memory August 2010
You can continue reading a separate entry that I wrote for my dog when he passed away over HERE. I was tearing up as I wrote the entry to submit at BlackBerry. He was a part of many of my life.

Anyways, I hope that I can win or at least get selected with my entry. All love are bittersweet, and not everyone's first love would last. So please VOTE FOR ME

Voting period will commence in 28 Feb - 9 March

(GIVEAWAY) Kronenbourg Event - the launch of Kronenbourg 1664 Signs of Attraction

The launch of Kronenbourg 1664 Signs of Attraction
17th February 2012, Shaw Lido
(Collaboration with Starhub Blackberry (BASH), 8Days & Lunch Actually)

How did I know about the beer and  What do I think of the beer?
Well, during October last year, I managed to have a few sip of the BLANC, which has a little citrus twist to it. Being a hard-core partier previously, beer was my death zone. Which means, every time I drink, its either I burp damn disgustingly or just feel giddy after a short while. BUT, when I drank BLANC, it tasted so good, I can have bottles after bottles!

My boyfriend and I wanted to buy it during the atrium fair, but by the time we were there, they were closed, so we headed on to Cold Storage @ nex and... we bought the green bottle (which is more bitter in comparison with BLANC). I dont really like that as much as I like the BLANC. So yep! I think the drink is suitable to anyone, even when you are one who don't fancy beer. GO BUY AND TRY. Worth it! *swears*

How did I get my hands on the tickets?
I got 2 sets of tickets in total. One pair from Kronenbourg and the other from BASH (A collaboration with Starhub & Blackberry -- at least Starhub recognises Blackberry users k megaa <3!)

So what I did was... when I saw it on BASH, it was pretty late already, and I know that Starhub has very good response from its facebook users. Considering that I was registering for a chance on the last day, I was so confirmed that I wouldn't be able to attend the event. Therefore, I took my luck to email Kronenbourg themselves (spotted them on facebook).

Had a little bumper when I sent my email to Kronenbourg, cause there was an automatic reply saying the person was away (causing sadness in my face). BUT THANKFULLY, there were other personnel attending to the mail. Thanks to Kronenbourg for the super prompt reply, I was invited and classified as Media on their list. (Ok, this sounds a bit overly excited, but it has always been my dream to bring VLV to the next level and hearing that they classified my name as media just FWAHHHH - super happy). But on second thoughts, maybe they have no other classification lah. Whatever. Just let me be happy for the two seconds.

So what was involved in the event?
- Free Beer and French Canapes
- Free Cupid Angels to look (Oggle) at
- Free "THIS MEANS WAR" movie premier
- Goodie Bag for all guest (I'll show the pictures later)

I wanted to set up my dear friend - Janice Lim with a date, cause it was more like a single event. BUT THAT STUPID WOMEN, had to go for wisdom tooth extraction & surgery, so I was left with no choice.Ended up, after knowing I had 4 invites in total, I invited my "bitch" friend Minami & her boyfriend. Obviously I was with my own boyfriend.

Alright, picture time! (:

I was given the media kit

Media Kit!

the starhub queue was like WOAH. (ok there was a slight delay lah)
very chio right? Me think so!
Our first shot
I was so busy snapping, that he drank faster than me!

Yasmin from Class 95 who was introducing the brand and the app

Check out their Facebook Page here -- Kronenbourg 1664

Thereafter, we left, cause we had to had proper dinner. So we dropped by at Ion's Fish&Co. Thank you Minami for the extravagant treat! (: Much <3 and kisses to you.

I didn't know that iPads are conquering the world ):

As we only had our food (urgently) served at 8.45pm, all of us gobbled our Seafood Platter for 2. Wah. Almost choke to death. Mega Fullness. Over here, I want to commend on the service provided by Fish & Co @ Ion (specifically), because they have the best service any Fish&Co. Outlet has. Totally amazing. They were so considerate to rush our dish out despite understanding and knowing that there may be unhappy customers who were earlier than us, but have yet to been served.

I mean, MY MOVIE IS AT 9PM LEH. -- But the four of us, kinda got "dua"/Cheated. Cause when we rushed back to the theatre, thinking that we had missed the show, IT WAS STILL SHOWING TRAILERS LO.  Ok that was all forgiven as upon entry to the theatre, we were given goodie bags! (:

Here's a sneak on what's inside the goodie bag before I proceed on with a very short movie review..

Want to know what I'm giving away? CONTINUE TO READ. Don't play cheat and scroll down!

still showing in theatres
Basically, the movie plot is about how these two Spies are trying to woo the lead actress (Reese Witherspoon). Overall, the plot is pretty interesting, showing how the Spies used their job to get the "job" done. Can you imagine, if that was you? Quite cool ah? But, it was kinda predictable (at least for me), to know who she chose in the end. So.. if you want to know who she chose, go watch it. Overall its a romance/action/comedy flick. Its like a combination of all, which I doubt your male partner would feel bored in. Probably would remind them what they did in the past, when they "chased" after you!

Ratings: 4/5 popcorns!

Giveaway time!
Ok.. So.. I'm giving away these 2 of the iPhone 4 covers, well, mainly cause I DONT HAVE AN iPhone. I never like anything touch screen, they make my hands feel like butter and my brains - welp, stupid. But hey. I found out on facebook that you have to spend a certain amount then you would be given this exclusive cover ok. So don't "hiam" my give away!
