[Food Review] Thai Food Restaurant @ Ubi

[Food Review] Thai Food Restaurant
Blk 301 Ubi Ave 1 #01-273
Opens daily, 11 am - 9 pm. (Wednesday and Saturday opens at 1 - 2pm)

Hello my dear VLV viewers. Remember I was talking about this Thai Food place that one cannot miss in their life in Singapore? Well, here it is! This is the place that I have been raving about to all of my friends. Problem is, I didn't know where the exact location was.

I was introduced by my ex-boyfriend family about this place, and we visited it quite often. At least twice a month. The food used to be cooked by the Thai Chef, who flew in from Bangkok to assist the two old couple/owner to do the chef duties. Food was really authentic to the max!

So this time round, when I went back with a friend of mine, Janice, I was a bit disappointed. Maybe because all these while I have had a certain expectation from the store, but now... not really that high up. Probably a 4/5 now [sad face].

This store is being managed by an old couple, who lives right upstairs. The uncle who I interviewed in Hokkien was 82 this year, and his wife, 72! It is practically amazing to know that someone who is your grandpa's age is able to manage a restaurant, on a daily basis. I did check with them about their rental and wow, it cost $5000 for a shop, and a unit above. That's pretty hefty, considering the price that they sell their products for.

Seriously, not out of sympathy or what, I think they are good! You'll get what I mean, when you see the price labelled at each item below later. You'll be so shocked with the amount of food that you'll be getting. But I could tell where the cost-cutting went to: 2nd hand plates and chairs, tables, fridges were prominent, there's no fancy LCD screen tv or a very beautiful menu for you to browse through. Everything is just plain old fashion, and.. very homely.

Mango Salad (generous amount - $4)
Kangkong $5

Tomyam Soup with fishball squids and prawn - $6

Super huge plate of pineapple rice - $4

4 Pcs of Chicken, $4.

Feast that Janice and I had, $26.
So after that huge feast, I made a trip over to Sgoon Garden's udders for some ice-cream! Its always the choice between, Earl Grey, Awesomely Chocolate or Mao Shan Wang. Either one can keep me going back for more! (:

I have a small post that I hope to share tonight for you guys, so stay tuned! (:

[EVENT] Lavish & Luxe Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show

STYLE - Lavish & Luxe Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show
Ion Orchard, The Marmalade Pantry, 28 March 2012, 7pm

I was so happy to see Kro again!
Goat cheese with a fruit tomato inside. I couldn't figure it out. But was definitely delicious

How to miss this right?

My Selections - The beef was good actually, The portobello mushroom was "fwah" to the entire baby kebab
Yasmine from Class 95 Again.
So the event had several huge brands that you can easily find at iOn Orchard Level 3. The brand that were being showcased last night were these...
  1. Agnes b. Voyage,
  2. alldressedup,
  3. Furla,
  4. Kwanpen,
  5. M.C.L by Matthew Campbell Laurenza,
  6. Oroton,
  7. enVie de Pois,
  8. Tyan
  9. 6five Barcode
well, some of the brands must have looked familiar to most of us, for example Agnes b. Voyage and Furla. And last night, I got to view their Spring/Summer 2012 collection. It was a event that was so well done, far-fetched from the one I attended previously at Zouk. - mehhhh (sheep).  Here are the deeds.

Agnes b. Voyage

I apologise, I couldn't remember this brand name!!!

 FINALE VIDEO

Overall, I really like how these fashion shows are embracing the Spring/Summer Look. We know that prints and crotchet are all coming back, with louder bangs of red, greens and blues spotted. I love Summer for their bright colours and Spring for the "easy breezy" look (sounds like ANTM Covergirl Ad).

Honestly, these are the only looks that would probably suit Singapore's weather most. It is just plain ridiculous to see a guy/lady wearing a thick trench coat in such a humid environment. I see no reason why they should. Unless, the material is super thin.

After the fashion show ended, there were desserts served. And of course, I had to grab them. I am a choco-holic and I have to rave about how DELICIOUS the chocolate dessert was. I could just gobble up the entire tray

Passionfruit, raspberry and chocolateeeeeeeeee
So each goodie bag was placed on the chair and inside, there was the
  • March Issue of STYLE Magazine,
  • April Issue of STYLE Magzine (which I took from the table)
  • A Handphone strap by Olympus pen (Which was quite cool, but I don't want to hang it on my camera, cause like very cheat my brand like that hahaha! I SUPPORT MY LUMIX).
  • An organiser in the follie follie orange accessories dividing the months in 2012! [so chio]

Well, I am suppose to be at the BCBGMAXAZRIA Event tonight, but I apologise guys, I am too caught up with school work and I have yet to complete what I have to do. Do bear with me. Just 3 more weeks, and school is officially off my butt!

I have another Thai Food Review coming up, and I'm also going for 2 events this Saturday, so keep your eyes glued to facebook/VanityLaVie, whichever that always bring you here.

Till then

[VanityLaVie] NylonSG @ Zouk feat Topshop & Topman Summer/Spring 2012 Collection

NYLONSG Launch Party
Zouk Singapore, 23 March 2012 8 - 10pm
Featuring Topshop/Topman Summer/Spring 2012 Collection

Probably one of the _____ launch party I have been to in my life.

If you missed it, you can check it out here.

Much apologies for the shaky hand and uneven cut off of the video. Cause I was standing on the steps, and it wasn't easy to get a good video given the space and all. Had expected a Goodie bag (given that this is a launch party) at the end of the event, but received none. Kinda disappointing cause we made it all the way there and was hoping to get a copy of the magazine. Sigh.

Oh well. next time.

Salvagation you say ? I doubt so. [Part 2 Perfunctory]

Guess what came in my mail just yesterday night at 10.15pm!

Maybe they have read my entry, or some one has FINALLY enlighten them on how to reply emails. Let's look at this email that was replied by "Serena" now.

Firstly..

"Your item(s) will be mailed today and you should expect it within 2-3 weekdays........"

How smart. So does TODAY refers to Thursday? Given the fact that you emailed me on the 22nd of March 2012? Or does it means TODAY, the 23rd, on a FRIDAY. Seriously, which blogshop smart ass, so smart to mail things on a Friday, KNOWING THAT CONFIRM WILL DELAY THE MAIL BEING REACHED AT MY DOORSTEP? I know - YOU

Dumb or what? Please. If you want to use a fucking template, go ahead. But at least, BOTHER to tweak the template like instead of  the above in blue, you can say something like that. (Don't try to brush off an email, and be all ignorant about it.)

"Your item(s) has been mailed this morning/afternoon/earlier in the evening. You should be expecting the item to arrive in the next 2 - 3 working days (weekdays does not clarify enough)."

Doesn't that sounds more convincing? Service is where TIME is measured. Also, you say that you will refund shortly. Pardon me.. but HOW SHORT WOULD THAT BE? 30 minutes? 1 hour? 12 hours? 24? 48 hours? a week later? IS THAT SHORTLY?

*go stand at a corner, face the wall and reflect about your stupid ridiculous nonsensical service!*

'Nuff said.

If you haven't *like* VLV on facebook, or know me personally, you probably miss out on this video! Here's the dig.

Now is this enough for you to click on the LIKE button already?

Perfunctory

I'm so furious right now, all thanks to this specific blogshop that I've been purchasing from.

Here's the story...

I made my purchase on last Sunday afternoon prior to their launch. As usual, its that painful wait to know if you actually managed to get the items of your choice. So I waited. Shortly, in about 3 hours or so, I received my confirmation email to make my payment on the item that I chose. I did not do it instantly, and forgot about it, until Monday morning when I came to work.

I received another email from the blogshop; a reminder for the payment. I told them that I did not bring my IB Token out, thus would not be able to make the transfer, given that I have school every Monday, I told them that I will do the transfer as soon as I get home, which is usually around 10pm.

I got a reply, shortly after that, stating that I would need to make the payment before 10pm. So for that bloody piece of dress that I got, I rushed home to do the transfer. Sadly, I was rushing so much, and multi-tasking (my mum was nagging about her work) and did a double transfer. A total of $57 instead of just $28.50.

After realising that, I revert an email to the blogshop, APOLOGISING ABOUT THE DELAY IN PAYMENT, and STATED THAT I MADE AN EXTRA $$ TRANSFER in TWO SEPARATE TRANSACTION REFERENCE.

So I waited patiently for their "PROMPT" reply. And they did reply me. GUESS WHAT MY REPLY WAS. [oh, this was directly after I tweeted them how pissed I was with regards to my payment and email]

And I did reply to notify them about the transfer once again.  [from my blackberry]

Please note, how polite and courteous I am with regards to this email. I wasn't THAT ANGRY YET, until yesterday.

I saw that the blog was going to launch another collection/post. [Today marks the 4th day since I transacted the entry]. I see how they are active on social media, and even churning out blog entries for their launch and etc. I mean, I can understand that they do have this practice to launch twice a week. But if they can't reply their customers on time, what's the point of launching so efficiency.

I have shopped at many other blogshop which also includes the famous - Love,Bonito. Never once, had I encounter such a terrible experience. Gosh. Do they know what is business ethics?

They do have an office, which I know where it is located at, but I do not wish to go knock on someone's door over $28.50. But, the business practice that this specific blogshop carries is just unforgivable. I thought that I could trust this blogshop given the fact that I had made several transactions with them previously and all were fine and successful. Yet this specific transaction had to take SO LONG to process. I mean I would have understood that if they would take a few days to reply due to their busy schedules and etc. But the fact that they had replied me so promptly on the previous few emails, doesn't it just proves one point? They cannot be bothered.

That fucking piece of dress is not even worth $57.

Dear DB (blogshop)

If you happen to read this. I am a very angry customer who has experienced my WORSE experience of online shopping. You're worse than Paypal, worse than gmarket buyers. You give people the impression that your business is so prestigious and awesome. But let me tell you this, I can easily purchase the type of dresses that you bring in to your company at City Plaza (Paya Lebar, which is very near your office too).  I hope that whoever is attending to your customers do understand the importance of reverting them effectively and efficiently. and not taking your customer's email lightly, or just filtering out the parts where attention is needed the most.

Perhaps this "Joelle" would need to attend some English lessons or even some courtesy lesson in order to serve your "loyal" customers better. Gosh. This isn't just about the $57 bucks. This is about YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

You, suck.

And for all you know, the T&C stated on your website would not be able to save your sorry ass. Given your negligence, you will most likely end up in a lawsuit, not by me, but probably by some other shopper who visits and patronise your shop. Cause I can't be bothered to argue this $57 amount with you. Good luck in your future business, because I am going to tarnish it in my circle of friends!

and for all you know I haven't even receive my dress yet.
