[Product Review] Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream

Before I even begin, I just really want to commend on the marketing efforts by Olay. Even their website impress me! It is so consumer-centric (I know it is suppose to be customer-centric), but just look at the available options. Just so thoughtful.

I mean, if they can spend so much effort marketing the product, the product has got to be something right?

What does it really do?
  • Hydrates to regenerate volume and shape across skin's surface
  • Reduces the looks of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Smoothes and brightens skin's appearance
  • Restores skin's elasticity with plumping hyrdationg
  • Firms skin over time

"Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream penetrates fast and accelerates surface cell turnover to give you visible wrinkle results starting day 1."

1 Day: Reduces the appearance of lines, boosts hydration & brightness
14 Days: Skin is noticeably firmer and skin elasticity is improved
28 Days: Reverses the look of up to 10 years of wrinkles

Where can I find them?
I believe this applies to almost ALL P&G products. They make it so readily available, that if after reading this post, and you're completely sold by what I have said, then you can just pop by to your local stores to purchase (Guardian, Watsons, Cold Storage, NTUC, Shop&Save and etc!)

How much does it cost?
Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream (50 g) costs $49.90. If you were to use it day and night (I would suggest only at night, we use the best product, cause that is when our skin has the ability to absorb all the goodness that the product promises), I believe this bottle of goodness can last for a good 3 months (the least). The price that you pay ($50), is like less than one-fifth of the La Creme by Cle De Peau Beaute! (ok, I won't compare the brands - hush)

Would I recommend this product?
OVERALLthe TEXTURE of the product is creamy, but not oily. The product SMELLS damn good please. It has this floral scent, that smells really good. The smell reminds me of baby shower gel. I don't know why. But it really smells very very good! Upon APPLICATION, not only does it smell REALLY GOOD, it also creates a smooth finishing. There was a slight tingling sensation that soon disappeared after 10secs or so. Guess that was the "firming" action on my skin. Or maybe my skin was reacting to it differently.

Of course I would RECOMMEND the product to everyone of you! In fact, I'm using this product alternatively with the Aqualabel Collagen GL Cream. (Beauty Tip: if we keep sticking to the same product, after awhile, our skin will be immuned to the product ingredients and effects, just like how pimple gel works. So remember to switch maybe every once or twice a year). Also, I got my mum to give the product a try and she was as equally impressed as I am. I mean, for the price, the quality is really good.

Till the next review!

[Beauty Review] K-Palette Brown Eyepencil

 Are you just like me?

If you said Yes to one of the above (or like me ALL of it), read below, otherwise..... aiya, just read ok.

What the product is about
1DAY TATTOO Real Lasting Eyepencil (MATTE FINISH) and last up to 24h
  • Improved ingredients that makes the eyepencil now oil-proof too!
  • Addition of 3 types of Beauty Essence - we take care of your skin while you beautify yourself (Hyaluronic Acid Na, Water Soluble collagen & Swetia Japonica essence)
  • Soft, smooth pencil - easy to draw smooth eyelines on your eyelids and tightlines
Product is available in [SB01 – Super Black] and [DB01 – Deep Brown]

How much it costs & where can I find it
It costs $19.90 and it can be found at Watsons. I'm not sure about other parts of Singapore though.
Actually, I'm thinking of removing this "where can I find it" section, because I find myself repeating how you can find products in Watsons. I think Watsons Tagline should be "your Beauty Finds". So next time if someone were to ask me, "eh Andrea, where can I get this, then I'll go -  your beauty finds @ watsons". Wah!! not bad right! I should be hired already. HEADHUNT ME PLEASE *WAVES*

[Hao-Lian in-progress] I like how I shape my eyes and how I draw my eyeliner together with my special weapon of liquid liner and eyeshadow. It really makes my eye pop more than usual, a lot brighter and awake than the usual me who look like a dead eyed fish. I really really really loveeeeeee all the products that I have now. Heeheehee. So glad I found these gems. Will share with you guys how I achieve that eye look, though its really easy. Just a few more times, I believe I can achieve the look within 3 minutes! [Hao-Lian Progress over]

Ok, now. It is time to put the product to the test. Here's an awkward short video of me eye-lining my bottom lids for more POW-WOW.

Heehee! I used the Youtube Editor to edit my video.. thus.. its a little TOOOOO slow. haha! But see how easy it glides on!  [oh, and I did my own nails for this tutorial also!]

So I drew it on my arm as well, I saw how other blogettes do that too, and I thought, maybe I should give it a try too. Tried using cue-tip (cotton butt) to remove the eye pencil line, rubbed severely, but the eye pencil line still persisted.

So what's my verdict?
Ok, I need to justify why I still (half)tick those boxes. Firstly, I do have to admit that I have oily eyelids, and despite the trick of powdering your eyeliner after you have drawn them to prevent smudging, It kinda don't work also. But but but, for K-Palette Brown Eyepencil, it lasted a bit longer than what I had used before.

Secondly, just like ALL eye pencil liner, there isn't like a felt tip for me to use to draw thinner lines. (My hands kinda will tremble and mess up the entire look when it comes to brushes that does not have "shape"). So... Unless they can invent a pencil liner in a PENCIL shape forever, despite don't know how many use (which is practically impossible), then I would fully untick the box.

Very honestly, I think that the brown, is really dark brown. I wasn't expecting such a vivid colour from the product as most eye pencils usually appear lighter than publicised. Therefore YAY to K-Palette for achieving this! Also, this product is realllllyyyyy waterproof to the max. I'm extremely serious. Because I applied it on my arm and also on my under eyelid line, I had a hard time trying to remove it. Especially on my arm. I had to rub and scrub. Thankfully, for the eye area, it was slightly easier (but that could be because I do the 5 - 10secs soak before wiping off eye makeup trick)

Anyways, just to share what I found on the website, and painfully translated it (ok not painful, just one click to English) for easier viewing.

http://k-palette.net/pencil24h/tips.html -> Open with Google Chrome to read the "English" translation. Kudos to you if you read Japanese, cause I know nuts about it. Haha!
Till then, good luck & thank you for reading! (:

Double-boiled soup with fish maw and dried seafood conpoy
Firstly, I'm not a fan of Fish maw. ya ya ya. Not so smart in eating such delicacies (abalone & oysters included). But I have to say the stock for the soup was truly delish! Love how they always throw dried conpoy in. My favourite! Tasty and not salty at all.

Duck meat with Fried Yam Coating with Sweet & Sour Sauce by the side
Ok, I don't really know the name of the dish, but that was exactly what was inside what I had. Not a huge fan of Yam again, but this was bearable. The duck meat within was soft and tender, full of flavour. But I would definitely recommend to dip the sauce to rid the oiliness.

Chicken in a Golden Nest
Famous for this dish. I could kinda taste what it was made of exactly. Especially the Chicken in the Golden Nest. I could taste sharp tastes of Marmite and XO sauce beautifully mixed to perfection. The chicken within the nest were nicely stir-fry, meat was fresh and tender. Surrounding the "chicken nest" were pieces of fried mince chicken that were flatten and fried with a chicken coating thing I believe. That tasted H-E-A-V-E-N-L-Y.

Ee-Fu Noodles I know, its my "I NEED TO PUT FOOD IN MY MOUTH NOW" habit again. I totally forgot about snapping a photo of it. SIGH. But points aside. I love the take on how the chef did the Ee-fu noodles. I have to exclaim my love for Ee-Fu noodles ok! Its damn blardi good of a noodle form. They did is in the Hokkien Mee style the dark black mee kinda style which was really surprisingly a lot nicer!

Wasabi + Thai Prawns
The wasabi was a little bit over-powering for me. Though I do love my wasabi quite abit. The tangy mango thai prawns were a lot more appetising in comparison though!. So I would say, give that a go instead of the wasabi. (Peach Restaurant @ OCBC was the best I ever had)

COST:
I'm sorry, I don't have the individual prices for it. But the entire bill cost us a good RM$180. That amounted to about SGD$80++ for 4 pax! (: But for the amount of food we were paying for. I am very sure it was a knock-off price!

The short road trip across the border last friday made me see our friendly neighbour in another light - Literally!

BOSS later showed us around, and we had LOKLOK too (my recent favourite - fried abalone mushroom) and showed me one of the clubs there called Library then... brought us to Horizon Hills that has like a freaking golf course near the residence area...

CLICK TO READ

As well as this upcoming place near the Hello Kitty Land called Teega @ Puteri Harbour. It is a look-alike of our Keppel Bay (where Prive is located) I would really love to take a photo of that place, but it was like 11pm already, so... kinda pointless.

Magnificent isn't it?

All the houses so pretty. Maybe with the rising cost of HDB flats, we should all consider shifting over to JB. Afterall, exchange rate is better, car is cheaper, house is also cheaper. Our currently priced five room flat BTO of about 109sqm can fetch a good semi-detached there of up to 2000sqm.  Good point?

Still BIG THANKS to zee boss for showing us around! More roadtrips to come along boss! LOKLOK TOO!

[Food Review] Dean & Deluca Singapore

*stretches fingers* It has been a really long time since I last blog about food. That isn't because I haven't been eating, in fact, my face has grown so much fatter as compared to the past year. Sigh. That aside, I think I have been eating too much good food, till I always forget to write about it. I have chunks of them in my phone, but just toooooo lazy to blog about it. If you want to know.. you can always follow me on Instagram @vanitylavie ! (:

Triple Mushroom Soup
$10.00
That's right. Its TRIPLE mushroom soup. Nothing can ever go wrong about mushroom can it? What is even better is that it is a combination of 3 types of mushroom - I only remembered that it had Portebello Mushroom + 2 other mushrooms which I forgot about (Whoops). But to top it all off, it was served with this fragrant truffle oil.

The texture of the soup wasn't even close to watery or starchy. You can still taste the lil bits of chunks of the mushroom. No chewing involved, Good enough to swallow! It was close to perfection. (In fact, the best mushroom soup I had was from Bakerzin @ Vivocity - surprising uh!).

The only downside to the soup was that, I felt that the soup was served warm. So by the time I finished taking photo, it turned cold, and the bread that accompanied it was so full of herbs flavour and sesame seeds I believe, but after the photo taking again, turned a lil stale. That was really sad.

Berries and Flapjacks
$18.00

If you remembered the movie "Despicable Me" where one of the character (Agnes) while winning a Unicorn (see below)

When I had a taste of the pancakes, I really wanted to say "ITS SO FLUFFY I'M GONNA DIE" *burst out in laughter*

Living up to its fame. This plate of happiness was filled with berries - Strawberries, Blueberries and Raspberries. I even asked for extra maple syrup to rid the sourness + add on to the sweetness of the berries. Boy, you don't know how much I love my berries (ok except the blue one)

The pancakes, when eaten separately without any of the cream or maple syrup, was a good fluff, it was buttery but not overpowering, it was soft enough for me (was having a really bad sore throat that day). But then again, I bet because all the food were served at the same time, and Keong & I were sharing it, we kinda had it at the last part, so it turned cold. Sigh.

Prawn, Avocado and Mango Salad
$22.50/whole, $11.25/half portion

While selecting our salad, one of the chef probably guessed that we were new to the menu, so he started to introduce to us what are their specialities. And we were both told that the Prawn Avocado & Mango Salad is their best seller of all times (though he recommended his favourite Black Pepper crusted semi-pan seared tuna to us, which we didn't order (but I'll try it the next time).

The freshness and the tangy-ness from the Mango gave the entire salad a great punch. Not sure what they used for the dressing, but I'm guessing Orange Juice &  Lime Juice or Lemon toppled up with lots of Olive Oil. Or it could be Balsamic. But then again, didn't really tasted like balsamic. I don't remember. I swear I will take photos of the menu the next time I'm there. Sorry guys!

The prawn was served in huge chunky bits (WHICH I LOVED). It was fresh and springy too! Ok, to me, no salad is complete without Wild Rockets. And YES! they have it in their salad (+++ points for them!)

Overall, my experience at the cafe was a pretty good one. I would have to commend on the attentiveness of one of the female cashier (short hair) who overheard me saying that I would want extra maple syrup. She really took note of it. Very sweet! *likes*. But apart from that I would really love my food to be piping hot when it is being served. Usually, though I would take photos of food, it wouldn't cause the food to turn cold that badly. I didn't take 5 minutes to snap the photographs. So that was really the minus points to the entire dinner I was having. Also, I do understand that you need to pick up your own utensils and etc, but since the cafe was so quiet, I was expecting that the waiters on duty could assist on that and make the entire experience better, like offering a hot water top up to our almost finished tea. I would really love to try the all day breakfast one day, but... guess I'd prefer to drop by during weekday, as the place can get a tad bit too crowded on weekends.

Now you don't have to be in New York to be experiencing the flavours of their specialities!
Afterall, Singapore is truly the hub of all good food! (:

Cheers!

[Product Review] Essential Damage Care Nuance Airy Anti Frizz Serum

Ever dreamt of long silky hair, or at least... hair that doesn't look like this?

That's the messiest state my hair can be at.

Ok, Unless you're kristen stewart, otherwise do something about the frizziness!
Want your hair to stay smooth and bouncy all day with no oily after-feel?

INTRODUCING ESSENTIAL DAMAGE CARE NUANCE AIRY ANTI FRIZZ SERUM
(AIYO THE NAME SO LONG)

Seriously the name is TOOOOOO long. If it was me who was promoting this product, think I'll just be super thirsty after saying the name 10 times. But I guess it describes what the product does and is about.

ESSENTIAL DAMAGE CARE NUANCE AIRY ANTI FRIZZ SERUM (PINK)
(Oh! I used to use Nourishing Care Lotion (Orange Colour One))

My concern was, WILL IT REALLY HELP ME?

Transparent solution - sweet smelling and non-sticky at all!

  1. Pump an appropriate amount of serum onto your palm.
  2. Apply from mid-length to tips, concentrate on the damaged areas.
  3. Spread and apply evenly onto the ends of your hair.
  4. Do not rinse off.

TADAH!! See how shiny my hair is! (: (: (: and non frizzy!
What does it really do?
  • High Purity Honey Oil provides deep moisture
  • Ultra Shine Essence gives hair a long-lasting shine
  • Wild Rose Essence keeps hair soft and moisturised
New Improved! Intensive Leave-on Treatment enriched with High Purity Honey Oil , Wild Rose Essence and Cuticle Repair Essence. Instantly coats and smoothens peeling cuticles while repairing damaged hair surface. Hair stays Smooth and Bouncy all day.

Where can I find them?

I am very sure you can find this product almost in every drug stores, supermarket as well as those individual "shampoo" shops that you canfind along the shop houses outside AMK hub. Like Pink Beauty!

How much does it cost?

The actual price of the product is $10.90. But sometimes, during Watsons Sale, (which is when I usually top up my toiletries) it is sold at $9.90.

Would I recommend this product?

Honestly, I never really suffered from Frizzy problems with my hair. But because I have been dyeing my hair in such bright colours (nope, I didn't bleach at all), I think it has caused my hair to become really lethargic and lifeless. That was also a reason why at initial stage I chose the Orange bottle (Nourishing Care Lotion) instead of the Pink one that I'm reviewing on. But my friends who recommended me the products were all using the pink one, when I asked them why, I had one very clear cut answer - "Nice smelling ma!"

That's for sure, I would agree. Your hair do smell very very good after the use of the serum. Then again, with the new improved formula in this product, I am very confident to say that this leave-on-serum will definitely infuse all the goodness into my damage hair, leaving it smooth and bouncy (most importantly, ALIVE!!!).

Ok, ending with 2 headshots. Bear with me.

See, that wasn't that difficult was it?

Love

Andrea

I GOT MOLESTED [READ]

Dear family, friends and strangers
Today, I experienced something so shell-shocking that I think it should serve as a warning to all the females out there. Regardless of what shape and sizes, how pretty how average looking, how dolled up you are, I hope you take the following experience that I'm going to share with you very very seriously. Because as a blogger myself, this is the best I can do to share with everyone.
Just a few days ago, I was watching local blogger Xiaxue reviewing her fan mails and mentioning about how brave she was when she blogged about the Molester who she experienced years ago.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This evening, as I left work as usual, I took the North-East line towards punggol to meet a friend of mine. As usual, I boarded the train at Boon Keng, and was standing at the pole, that was facing the doors of the train. On the next stop, a man boarded the train.
At this period of time, the train wasn't even crowded, there was no one trying to squeeze us around or whats not. He was standing at where people would usually rest their backs on beside the door. But his back was facing the door

That was exactly what kind of position I was in. Initially, I didn't notice anything strange. Until, that guy, whipped out his phone and started holding it in an upright position.
As a phone user myself, and an observer myself, whenever we use our phone to text, to see certain things, we would tilt it in a level whereby it will be in a 45 degrees angel. (Correct me if I'm wrong). However, this guy, who whipped out his phone, held it at 90 DEGREES.
He was holding his phone STRAIGHT, directly facing me, THIS, was when I felt that something was not right. Although I'm a BB user myself, and I am very thankful that I am still a Blackberry user till date (I'll explain more later on).  I saw him clicking at the bottom middle part of the phone. It was a Samsung S2.
Observing what had happened, I was curious, and was a little bit worried, cause at the back of my mind, I was wondering, if he took a photo of me. [Yes, I may not be the prettiest, or the most attractive person in the world, neither was my boob was falling out. ]
I was only wearing this.

A blue colour dress I bought from Megagamie for CNY
That right. That was what I was wearing. No, my boobs weren't falling out if you were wondering. Neither was it extremely short that my ass could be seen.
Back to the story. (please mind the vulgarities)
Being me, I took a step to my right, and looked through the reflection of the door, and I saw my face, in his phone. There were photos taken of me.

At that very moment. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what was the right thing to do. I didn't know. I was in a state of panic, and shock and confused, I felt very unsafe, very insecure and felt like running away. But some part of me reminded me that, "fuck this bastard, what the fuck was that for". A lot of "maybe(s)" a lot of hesitation was running at the back of my mind.
While those possibilities were running at the back of my mind, this man, went to his "Gallery" and started vetting through the photos he took of me. Those photos he took presented the upper half of my body and I was at least 90% of the entire picture. My mind was shouting
"Something is NOT RIGHT - do something!".

Out of "I DON'T KNOW WHAT",  I pointed at him, towards his phone, and said in a very firm voice "Can you delete it".

He looked up, shocked, and started fidgeting with his phone. and I witness through the reflection that he deleted the photos of which was taken of me. He didn't blurt a word, or spoke at all.
Through the ride, I stood right in front of him, staring at the reflection, cause at that point of time, it was my only hope, my only help and my only rescue to save myself from further embarrassment or even humiliation in the future to come.
After watching him delete the photos, I was already at Woodleigh station. I wanted to alight, but I didn't. A part of me told me that I couldn't lose this battle, that I cannot just look like a timid person and walk away like I didn't care. And that station was very deserted still, what if he tagged along, was I suppose to run? No. I decided to alight at Serangoon, where it was the interchange and I knew many people would be alighting with me.
Throughout the ride, he didn't move, he continued browsing the menu of his phone, left, right, left, right, watching every movement I made with my phone. I was contemplating, if I should have taken a photo of that guy, but I did not. (Now, I regret this - one of the few regrets I ever had).
As I alighted the cabin, I gave him a stare. A face I will never forget.
Through this experience, I hope that all the girls out there do take my following advices very seriously.

PLEASE LEARN TO PROTECT YOURSELF.
Given the technology these days, whenever I board the train in the morning, I see everyone being so engrossed with their phones, staring at them like they struck gold. Ignoring what is going on around them.

I know the phone has its own entertainment purposes, you may be trying to crack that Candy Crush Level, but you will never know, while trying, a picture of you got snapped, and that guy has a picture of you, to *comfort* his desire.

Next. I know it is fashion, that everyone bare their backs, or wear really chiffon-nish clothes and show off their bra. Sure, it is nothing, cause at least you are not baring your nipples out in the open. But think twice.

YOU COULD BE ATTRACTING A MAN LIKE THE ABOVE.
TO SNAP A PHOTO OF YOU.
All I have to say is, just watch your surroundings.

Do not belittle the reflection that you often see on the train station, or the doors or mirror. Sometimes they could make you find out things you never knew. Just like what happened to me.
Never place yourself in a VULNERABLE situation whereby you get such attacks.

I know that many of you, while reading this,  might ask the following:
"Andrea, why didn't you take a photo of him"
"You should have shouted"
"You should have scolded him in public"
"Showed him what you're made of, fuck him up, embarrass him!"
or those who had had friends asking you "what will you do when one day something like this happen to you?"
But when you're faced with the exact situation I was in. You would be lost, you would be afraid, you would feel really vulnerable and useless like you have no power. I knew I could have done more. Ideally, I could have snapped a photo of his face and I could have reported this and made a big fuss about it - but I did not.

I knew I could have done more than what I did, but I was glad, I had the courage to confront the guy without a question and told him to remove the photo.
That was the least I could do for myself.
*pat on my back*.

What would I do if such incidents happen again?
  • I would have raised my voice and said "If you want my photo, we can go to the police station".
  • I would have had my guts in my hands and snatch his phone. Scroll it to my face, and confront him in front of everyone.
  • I would have taken his phone, punch him in the face, delete the photo and stomp him.
  • I would have just murdered him (ok, maybe that's too extreme)
But the entire ordeal just made me felt that I should share it with everyone. Regardless of which country you are in, don't just comment about how terrible the rape case in India is only. Because it happens in our very own country too. Just that it doesn't get THAT publicised.
Don't be dumb ladies.
Don't be ignorant about such situations.
Don't be a FOOL and be in such positions.
Be ALERT
I was glad I wasn't holding an extremely smart phone. Cause if I did, I would be guilty for being like many of the girls on board; watching video, scrolling through newsfeed, whatsapp-ing excessively, playing candy crush. So THANK YOU BLACKBERRY!

I hope you share this post with your friends so that everyone will start making this change today - and be alert.
And no, I didn't got molested. I just needed a title to capture you girls attention.
With this, I hope everyone understands that with the growing population and diversified culture that we have in Singapore, such instances may become more obvious, and more apparent as days go by. You may think that Singapore is a really safe country - sure it is better than some countries in the world, but as a women ourselves, we need to protect ourselves and be alert about our surrounding. Because if we don't and we fall into the hands of such man, imagine what our children would be like, in the future.
This is not a joke. It is no laughing matter, and I really hope you take this seriously. Because something so small can always escalate to a bigger problem. No point being degree holders if we cannot even protect ourselves and our friends around us.

It is International Women's Day, be nice, spread the message.
Thank you.
Peace
Andrea
